සම්මොහවිනොදනී නාම විභඞ්ගට්ඨකථා යනු අභිධර්ම පිටකයේ දෙවන ග්‍රන්ථය වන විභංගප්පකරණය සඳහා භදන්ත බුද්ධඝෝෂ මහාස්ථවිරයන් විසින් රචිත පාලි අටුවාවයි. සයිමන් හේවාවිතාරණ ධර්ම පුස්තක මාලාවේ 34 වන වෙළුම (Vol. XXXIV) ලෙස ප්‍රකාශිත මෙම ග්‍රන්ථය, අභිධර්ම පිටකයට අයත් අටුවා අතරින් මුලින්ම මුද්‍රණය කරන ලද ග්‍රන්ථය වේ.

ගෝනගල සුධර්මාකර පිරිවෙන්පති, පණ්ඩිත ශ්‍රී භාරතීශ්වරාචාර්ය යගිරල පඤ්ඤානන්ද නායක ස්ථවිරයන් වහන්සේ විසින් සියම් හා බුරුම ආදී විවිධ පුස්කොළ පිටපත් සසඳා බලා මෙම ග්‍රන්ථය සම්පාදනය හා ශෝධනය කර ඇත. මුල් මුද්‍රණය බු.ව. 2475 (ක්‍රි.ව. 1932) දී කොළඹ මාළිගාකන්දේ ත්‍රිපිටක මුද්‍රණාලයේදී සිදුවූ අතර, මෙම පිටපත සෝමාවතී හේවාවිතාරණ භාරකාර අරමුදල මඟින් 2007 වසරේදී පළකරන ලද තෙවන මුද්‍රණයයි.

අභිධර්ම විභංගය විස්තර කෙරෙන ඛන්ධ විභංගය, ආයතන විභංගය, ධාතු විභංගය, පටිච්චසමුප්පාද විභංගය ආදී විභංග 18 සඳහා වන ගැඹුරු ධර්ම විවරණ මෙහි අන්තර්ගත වේ.

PUBLISHERS NOTE

The late Mr. SIMON ALEXANDER HEWAVITARNE, who in his life time had begun to publish the TRIPITAKA, left a bequest for its completion after his death, He died suddenly on 17th January 1913 and in accordance with his wishes his Trustees had published the Commentaries on the Text in 49 Volumes After seventy years these books are no longer readily available.

His widow Mrs. SOMAWATI HEWAVITARNE who passed away on 10th January 1982 at the age of 94 had prior to her death, created the SOMAWATI HEWAVITARNE TRUST to carry on the good work started by her late husband and bequeathed her entire estate to this Trust.

We the Trustees of the Somawati Hewavitarne Trust, having seen the need to re-print the Commentaries, have undertaken this task to help both the student and teacher of the Dhamma and in the hope that this act of ours will help to preserve the Noble Teachings of the Blessed One for the benefit of the future generations and thereby prolong the life of the Buddha Sasana by many more thousands of years.

May the fruits of this meritorious act help the late Simon Alexander Hewavitarne and Somawati Hewavitarne Maha Upasikawa in Sansara and towards their final attainment of Nibbana.

PREFATORY NOTE.

We have the pleasure to announce that with the Vibhangatthakatha, edited by the Venerable Nayaka Thero Yagirala Pannananda, Principal of the Sudharmakara Pirivena, we are issuing to the public the Thirty Fourth volume of the Simon Hewavitarne Series of Pali books. This is a work of the great Buddha Ghosa Maha Thero and is the first book we are issuing out of the commentaries on the Abhidhamma Pitaka.

The speed in the issue of these volumes has been obliged to be somewhat slackened owing to the world depression, but there are some books nearly ready to be issued.

Those that are partly printed are

The Fourth volume of the Jatakattha katha, and Second Part of the Apadana Athakatha included in the Khuddaka Nikaya.

The 1st Part of the Papanca Sudani Atthakatha of the Suttapitaka.

The Second Part of the Samanta Pasadika Atthakatha of the Vinaya Pitaka

The Second edition of the Sutta Nipata Atthakatha of the Khuddaka Nikaya and the Texts of the Samyutta Nikaya and the Digha Nikaya of the Suttapitaka.

These will be issued in due course.

Arrangements have also been made to begin printing the texts of Mahawagga and Pariwara of the Vinaya Pitaka.

We now beg to offer our thanks to the Venerable editor of the present volume. He had before this helped the Sabha by editing the Buddhawamsa Atthakatha with great acceptance.
